I graduated from Bastyr University in 2014 and began practicing that same year in Oregon and then Washington state. My focus has been largely on chronic illness, chronic pain, integrative addiction medicine, and I have acted as a primary care provider for many of my patients. While I have utilized many modalities in my career, classical homeopathy has been a throughline. It is a sometimes simple, at other times complex system of medicine that continues to challenge me as a scholar-practitioner and impact my patients in a way that no other modality can. Gentle, beautiful, and deep are how I would describe it.
In 2022, I began teaching full-time as an Assistant Professor in graduate studies in Integrative and Functional Nutrition at Saybrook University. I still enjoy practicing part-time with a focus on homeopathy, and recently have been getting a lot more experience in the areas of gut health and, separately, the menopausal transition.
These days I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota with my son, Leonidas. We are getting into mountain biking and kayaking. Both of us enjoy fishing, playing frisbee golf, and going out to eat at fun restaurants as well. From time to time, you may also find us at the local arcade. Playing and recording music is also something I greatly enjoy. Guitar and piano are my favorites. You can check out an EP I self-recorded and produced in 2021 on streaming platforms under the name BlakeX.
From NESH: Blake first studied with NESH at our 2013-14 Seattle Course while wrapping up an ND degree at Bastyr, and then has continued with numerous in-person and online clinically based NESH classes to this day (being among some of our West Coast Alumni to most frequently attend our in-person East Coast Clinical Classes).
A side note from Paul … I have two comments about Blake. First, I remember from the moment I first met him that his questions about the topic at hand were always spot on. His questions were mostly focused on trying to understand, from his perspective, how to match the remedy to the patient, how to understand what needs to be fixed, how to understand the driving influences in the patient’s life, and how to help them move toward health. That characteristic of thoughtful inquisitiveness has not changed in over a dozen years. My second comment concerns his smile, which I think helps both patients and colleagues feel more at ease and connected.
