What is Cycles & Segments, and How can I Learn More?

Cycles & Segments, as articulated by Drs. Herscu and Rothenberg, is a systems dynamics approach to classical homeopathy, which informs all aspects of practice. It is an elegant method you can use regardless of your homeopathic education or experience, which allows for more efficient and focused case taking and analysis. It offers a practical way of organizing and analyzing information in the case histories we glean from patients as well as details which appear in our remedy descriptions. This approach allows for an integrated study of homeopathy without the cumbersome memorization of long lists of individual symptoms. NESH has trained thousands of homeopaths worldwide to use Cycles and Segments, much to the enjoyment and satisfaction of students and practitioners alike.

Why Learn The Cycles and Segments Approach to Homeopathy:

Nux mochata materia medica – Cycle presented by Dr. Paul Herscu: This short example illustrates how materia medica is presented in our NESH Two-Year Classes, though typically in much more depth (for example our class discussion of the remedy Calc-carb is over an hour long). Here you will find a video clip of Nux mochata which, while used fairly frequently by Paul, is often missed in practice due to how it is typically presented in materia medicas. THIS brief description of Nux-m exemplifies common situations that might call for this remedy. For context, this video is from a conference where Paul was asked to discuss the state of ‘hysteria’, by describing the historical/political term and placing it in context in the 21st century.
