In hindsight, I was always going to be a naturopathic doctor. Well before I ever knew that my profession existed, I was learning about natural healing and helping those around me. As I witnessed and experienced the failures of the conventional medical system, I became more and more disillusioned with it and impassioned to discover another way. My decision to become a doctor was very intuitive, and it was only once I had set upon my path that I realized how perfect this profession is for me. Every day I use not only my skills as a healer, but as an organizer, teacher, advocate and coach. As a primary care doctor, I am the sacred gate-keeper of my patients’ health with an enormous and diverse toolbox. And as a homeopath, I offer the deepest and most effective medicine that I know of. Regarding homeopathy, I was fortunate. In my younger years, I had two profound experiences with it as a patient that left me awed. When I finally got to NUNM, I was already committed. The rest is history!
When I’m not seeing patients, teaching homeopathy or advocating for my profession, I’m likely to be found doing something active. I spend a lot of time hiking with my dogs, rock climbing, doing yoga, being social, eating good food and just enjoying life on the 10 acres that my husband and I own in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range. I have a beautiful mandolin that I don’t pick up enough, and I’ve set a realistic goal to be playing well by the time I’m 60! I’m also an avid traveler and prioritize getting out of town, or out of the country, whenever life allows.
From NESH: Rebecca studied with NESH at our 2013-2014 class in Seattle, Washington as well our 2017 Seattle Clinical Class, and will return for another Clinical Weekend this fall in Portland, Oregon. We love having Rebecca in class because she asks good questions and pushes us to be more specific with our answers. Her enthusiasm for using homeopathy in the context of naturopathic family practice is wonderful and we know as her career continues to evolve she will be an inspired leader in the field. We also appreciate that she takes time for both teaching and advocacy work, as we know the essential role of each and how it helps inform and direct one’s work in the clinic!
